# Scenes from the Life of St Joseph [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [GRASSET, Eugène-Samuel]() - Date: 1851-1900 - Technique: Stained glass ## Commentary During the 1890s, Grasset applied the same method of design that he had used in Histoire des quatre fils Aymon to his compositions for posters, ceramics, stained glass and tapestries. He enclosed areas of local colour within strong outlines in the manner of leaded stained glass. The stained glass window in Sainte-Madeleine church in Troyes was made after the after cartoons by Eugène Grasset.
