# Tomb of the Cardinal of Portugal [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [ROSSELLINO, Antonio]() - Date: 1451-1500 - Technique: White and coloured marble with traces of polychromy and gold, height 400 cm ## Commentary This tomb is the first recorded commission of Antonio Rossellini. It is part of the jewel-like mortuary chapel of Jaime of Portugal \(a prince of the royal house\) who died in Florence aged twenty-five in 1459. The three-walled chapel is a rare example of the harmonious effect which could be achieved when all three arts were brought together in a completed collaborative effort.
