# Hercules of the Forum Boarium [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [GOSSART, Jan]() - Date: 1501-1550 - Technique: Pen and ink, 226 x 107 mm ## Commentary Hercules of the Forum Boarium c. 1509 Pen and ink, 226 x 107 mm Private collection The model of this drawing is the Hercules of the Forum Boarium, a larger-than-life statue in gilded bronze, discovered at the end of the fifteenth century on the Forum Boarium in Rome. Soon after it was taken to the Palazzo dei Conservatori, where it remains.
