## Commentary

Four Ages of Man: The Old Age c. 1735 Mezzotint, 336 x 440 mm British Museum, London The print shows the courtyard of a house, with three old people sitting on the left; one of the woman is spinning wool while the other is sleeping, and the man is stroking a dog; to left, an old man is courting a young woman. It was executed after a painting by Nicolas Lancret.
