## Commentary

Portrait of Maria Luisa of Parma, Queen of Spain c. 1790 Oil on canvas, 230 x 160 cm Private collection It portrays Maria Luisa of Parma, Queen of Spain \(1751-1819\), full length standing, wearing a pink dress and a lace bonnet. The composition of the painting appears to be strongly indebted to a portrait by Maella of the Infanta Dona Carlota Joaquina \(1775-1830\), daughter of King Charles IV and Queen María Luisa of Parma, and elder sister to King Ferdinand VII \(Museo del Prado, Madrid\).
