## Commentary

The entrance portal \(the counterfaçade\) is flanked by two altars, on the left the altar Liguoro by Giovanni Marigliano \(1532\), and on the right the altar Del Pezzo by Girolamo Santacroce \(1524\). Both are masterpieces of Renaissance sculpture. Marigliano&#39;s altar presents a Madonna del Soccorso as the main work, and next to it statues of Sts Andrew and Jerome. The centre of Santacroce&#39;s Del Pezzo Altar is a Madonna and Child, with figures of Sts Peter and John the Baptist. The altar also shows a representation of Christ and Peter on Lake Tiberias.
