# General view [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [DESPREZ, Louis Jean]() - Date: 1751-1800 - Technique: Photo ## Commentary In 1786, King Gustavus III commissioned the Botanikum \(Linnéanum\) in Uppsala. designed by Olof Tempelman \(1745-1816\), it was later altered by the French architect Louis Jean Desprez, who used a Roman temple as his basic template, a building type that is clearly expressed in the portico.
