## Commentary

Portrait of a Young Lady Sewing c. 1771 Oil on panel, 17 x 13 cm Private collection This small picture may represent Madame Lagrenée, wife of the painter Louis-Jean-Francois Lagrenée the Elder \(1725-1805\). Lépicié excelled in the representation of modest or simple everyday scenes, where he combined the Flemish influence of detailing with Chardin&#39;s delicate and poetic refinement.
