## Commentary

The Descent of the Holy Ghost c. 1545 Oil on canvas, 570 x 260 cm Santa Maria della Salute, Venice On Pentecost, the Apostles and holy women are receiving the Holy Ghost with expressive gestures. The dove seems to be materializing out of the bright light filling the room.
