# Vase des Binelles [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [GUIMARD, Hector]() - Date: 1851-1900 - Technique: Stoneware with crystalline glaze, 130 x 39 x 40 cm ## Commentary The vase was produced in the Sèvres porcelain factory; the form and decoration are by Hector Guimard. The crystalline glaze, developed at the end of the nineteenth century, features iridescent crystal particles that create a sparkling effect. The name of the vase evokes the Castel Henriette built rue des Binelles, in Sèvres, between 1899 and 1903 by the architect Hector Guimard, destroyed in 1969. As with all Guimard's architectural creations, his intervention is a total art that links all elements of the project: from architecture to garden ornaments, including furniture, right down to rugs and hangings.
