This travel sketchbook of over fifty sheets was later broken up and sold off sheet by sheet. The present drawing once formed part of this travel sketchbook. Mountain Landscape with Ruined Castle is an almost romantic depiction with the architectural ruins in the foreground evocative of a past era and high mountains towering in the background.
