# Prayer Book of St Elizabeth of Hungary [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [MINIATURIST, German]() - Date: 1201-1250 - Technique: Manuscript \(Cod. 137\) ## Commentary Prayer Book of St Elizabeth of Hungary c. 1220 Manuscript \(Cod. 137\) Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Cividale The two scenes on folio 8 in a single frame depict Biblical scenes: the Annunciation and the Birth of Christ. At the left side of each scene a prophet \(Amos and Isaias\) can be seen. The style of the miniatures reflects the influence of the so-called new-Byzantine style prevailing in the workshops of Erfurt. The codex originally belonged to Sophie, Princess of Bavaria.
