## Commentary

Italianate Landscape with the Parting of Jacob and Laban c. 1630 Oil on panel Frans Halsmuseum, Haarlem A diagonal composition: on the left a panoramic view, on the right a Roman ruin. Post was an architect and worked mainly as assistant to Jacob van Campen. He used classical elements in his architecture and in his paintings.
