## Commentary

No. 41 The Seven Virtues: Fortitude 1306 Fresco, 120 x 55 cm Cappella Scrovegni \(Arena Chapel\), Padua Fortitude {Fortitude} is positioned as a woman in armor against the dark marble and behind her raised shield. She raises her weapon forcefully, prepared for attack, in order to defend virtue.
