# Landscape with Pan and Syrinx [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [RUBENS, Peter Paul]() - Date: 1601-1650 - Technique: Oil on panel, 58 x 95 cm ## Commentary The story of Pan and Syrinx - a satyr-like god pursuing a beautiful nymph - captured Rubens's imagination, and over the course of his career he returned to the theme as a subject for paintings and drawings. The present version is a joint work by Rubens and Jan Brueghel the Younger for which Brueghel painted the landscape and Rubens the figures.
