# St Francis of Assisi [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [MENA, Pedro de]() - Date: 1651-1700 - Technique: Wood ## Commentary Pedro de Mena, son of the sculptor Alonso de Mena, was a pupil and assistant of Alonso Cano in Granada. It can be assumed that the St Francis statue executed for the Toledo Cathedral was based on a model by Alonso Cano.
