Illustration for &#39;The mad day, or the marriage of Figaro&#39; c. 1784 Etching with engraving, 164 x 100 mm Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York This picture represents one of the five illustrations designed by Jacques-Philip-Joseph de Saint-Quentin for the five acts of &#39;The mad day, or the marriage of Figaro&#39; \(La Folle journée, ou le mariage de Figaro\) by Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais. The illustration for Act III depicts a man seated in a chair on a stepped platform holds an audience, two pointing men stand in the foreground. The etching was created c. 1784 by Claude-Nicolas Malapeau \(1755-1803\).
