## Commentary

Virgin and Child Enthroned with Saints c. 1515 Panel, 200 x 230 cm Gallerie dell&#39;Accademia, Venice This painting is perhaps the masterpiece of this somewhat slapdash and uneven artist. As one of the inscriptions notes, it was commissioned - very unusually - by a woman, Fiordelise, widow of maestro Bertolo, a potter. The represented saints are Jerome, Benedict, Justina, and Mary Magdalen.
