## Commentary

The picture shows the scene of St Nilus Prays before a Crucifix. This scene is located in the narrow section on the left long wall of the main room of the Cappella dei Santi Fondatori. It is one of the seven scenes depicting events from the lives of the two founder saints. The composition of each painting in the narrow sections contains few figures but emphasizes the landscape.
