# Decretum of Gratian [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [MINIATURIST, French]() - Date: 1201-1250 - Technique: Manuscript \(G.37\) ## Commentary Decretum of Gratian c. 1250 Manuscript \(G.37\) The Morgan Library and Museum, New York Medieval church law defined the degrees of family relationship within which a person might or might not be allowed to marry.
