# Equestrian Statue of King Louis XIV [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [BERNINI, Gian Lorenzo]() - Date: 1651-1700 - Technique: Marble ## Commentary Bernini made a terracotta model of the statue, though the sculpture was executed by his pupils, since he was by then over seventy-three years old.
