# Virgin of Humility [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [PIETRO DI GIOVANNI D'AMBROGIO]() - Date: 1401-1450 - Technique: Tempera on panel ## Commentary The "Madonna of Humility" refers to artistic portrayals of the Virgin Mary which depict the Virgin Mary sitting on the ground, or on a cushion on the floor, holding the Christ Child.
