## Commentary

The sitter of this portrait is traditionally identified as Dirk van Collen, Lord of Bredelar. He is depicted three-quarter-length, in a black coat with a white collar and cuffs, a pair of gloves in his left hand. The painting is signed and dated upper left: &#39;Lüttichüys · Fecit Anno · 1657 ·&#39;
