# Vulcan [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [COUSTOU, Guillaume II]() - Date: 1751-1800 - Technique: Marble, height 69 cm ## Commentary A plaster model of Vulcan he exhibited in 1741 served for his morceau de reception in marble the following year, and he thus entered the Academic while his father was still alive. The Vulcan might indeed be mistaken for the elder Guillaume's work, so completely is its idiom his vigorous 'engaged' Baroque.
