## Commentary

This engraving by the Antwerp engraver Nicolaes de Bruyn was made after a drawing by Abraham Bloemaert. This composition is the most impressive version of the story, taken by Ovid&#39;s Metamorphoses, by a Netherlandish artist up to that time.
