# Horse [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [DEGAS, Edgar]() - Date: 1851-1900 - Technique: Bronze, height 19 cm ## Commentary After the death of Degas in 1917, around 150 half-disintegrated small wax and clay sculpture was found in his studio. These were free-standing figures, scarcely 45 cm high, representing racehorses, women bathing, and ballet dancers in particular. It only proved possible to restore 73 of them, which were subsequently cast in bronze, in limited editions of 22 at most.
