II.\) British Library, London The manuscript was copied in two phases: between 1457 and 1460 \(ff. 6r-162r\), and between c. 1516 and 1527 ff. 163r-211v\). The picture shows the miniature on folio 30v representing Fortune's wheel. symbolizing that earthly power is transitory and precarious. A king sits enthroned at the top, but he can easily descend \(on the right\) to the depths, just as the humble can rise.
