## Commentary

This royal hunting portrait was modeled after an earlier type established by Netherlandish and German artists. The young Prince Henry sheathes his sword while his companion, Sir John Harington, holds the deer&#39;s antlers. The light palette and rich decorative effect are hallmarks of Peake&#39;s style.
