# Portrait of a Lady [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [ODEVAERE, Joseph-Denis]() - Date: 1801-1850 - Technique: Oil on canvas, 207 x 164 cm ## Commentary This painting, said to be showing Madame Vigier and her son, hung in the Grand Salon in the Château de Grand-Vaux situated just outside Paris. The château belonged to Pierre Vigier \(1760-1817\) who, after the Revolution, became the director of the Société des Bains Publics in Paris. The painting is signed and dated lower left J.
