The Virgin and Child with the Infant St John Appearing to St Jerome and St Anthony c. 1700 Oil on canvas Santa Maria dei Derelitti, Venice With Andrea Celesti, Venetian art entered a new phase. He rejected harsh chiaroscuro for radiant, richly coloured paintings with soft forms and familiar figures.
