## Commentary

The city of Jaén made a considerable contribution to Baroque architecture in Andalusia. In 1667 work began on the construction of a façade which Eufrasio López de Rojas \(died 1684\) had designed for the cathedral. The massive frontal, with five axes, using giant Corinthian orders and an attic story, refers to Maderno&#39;s St. Peter&#39;s in Rome. The photo shows the façade of the church.
