## Commentary

Gradual 1425-40 Manuscript \(Cod. Lat. III. 18\) Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana, Venice This miniature is on folio 1 of the Gradual for the monastery of Sant&#39;Andrea della Certosa. It was decorated before 1440 by the main Venetian illuminator of the period, Cristoforo Cortese.
