# Young Woman Standing [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [FRAGONARD, Jean-Honoré]() - Date: 1751-1800 - Technique: Red chalk, 380 x 242 mm ## Commentary Opinions differ as to the identity of this young woman, who is shown elegantly gathering up her skirts. It could be Fragonard's sister-in-law and pupil Marguerite Gérard or, as is nowadays believed, his daughter Rosalie. Fragonard took full advantage of his material, chalk, using a variety of contours, planes and shading to produce a charming portrait.
