# South portal [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [MEDIEVAL SCULPTOR, Spanish]() - Date: 1251-1300 - Technique: Stone ## Commentary The composition of the south portal of the church of Santa María la Blanca at Villalcázar de Sirga goes back to Romanesque architectural practice. Lacking a tympanum, and with a double row of blind arches with figures above the archivolt of the portal, it is modeled on the church of Santiago \(St. James\) at nearby Carrión de los Condes.
