## Commentary

SHCHEDRIN, Feodosy Fyodorovich \(b. 1751, St. Petersburg, d. 1825, St. Petersburg\) Venus 1792 Marble State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg The sculptor was received in the Academy after producing this statue. It is the first representation of a female nude in Russian sculpture.
