# Zen Chapel \(detail\) [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [MOSAIC ARTIST, Italian]() - Date: 1501-1550 - Technique: Mosaic ## Commentary The former south portal of the west narthex was reworked between 1503 and 1515 as the Porta da Mar leading to the Zen Chapel. In the twelfth century it had already received its mosaic decor, which was now extended with - among others - a cycle devoted to St Mark. The cycle covers the entire vault.
