## Commentary

Bourdelle gave us an allegory of the night, a figure &lt;a onclick=&#34;return OpenOther\(&#39;/html/m/michelan/1sculptu/medici/1giulia51.html&#39;\)&#34; href=&#34;/html/m/michelan/1sculptu/medici/1giulia51.html&#34;&gt;derived from Michelangelo.&lt;/a&gt; It is a kind of grotesque mask with which to enter the new century, hiding its face so that we can see only the eyes.
