# Stag Hunt [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [VOS, Paul de]() - Date: 1601-1650 - Technique: Oil on canvas, 212 x 347 cm ## Commentary Some of the hunting scenes signed by Paul de Vos, the most prestigious collection is perhaps that in the Prado in Madrid, much of which came from the former Spanish royal collection - are very similar in technique to Frans Snyders's work. He also painted variants of Snyders's compositions; it is assumed that these are part of his relatively early work. But the overwhelming majority of hunting scenes by De Vos are executed in a way that differs markedly from that of Snyders. His colouring is lighter and paler, his work has a more atmospheric appearance.
