## Commentary

Tomb of Dr. Anton Kress c. 1513 Bronze, height 130 cm St Lorenzkirche, Nuremberg This truly Renaissance memorial to a local patrician is a remarkable work by the Vischer workshop, probably by the hand of Peter Vischer the Younger. He had made a study trip to Italy, particularly to the Padua bronze studio of Andrea Riccio, and he doubtless should be credited with the design of this relief.
