# Adam [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [RODIN, Auguste]() - Date: 1851-1900 - Technique: Bronze, height 194 cm ## Commentary Adam 1880 \(model\), c. 1910 \(cast\) Bronze, height 194 cm Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York Rodin was deeply impressed by the work of Michelangelo and drew on the Sistine Chapel frescoes as a direct source of inspiration. In Adam, which shows the first man being roused to life, Rodin combined elements from the <a onclick="return OpenOther\('/html/m/michelan/3sistina/1genesis/6adam/06\_3ce6b.html'\)" href="/html/m/michelan/3sistina/1genesis/6adam/06\_3ce6b.html">Creation of Adam</a> in the Sistine Chapel and from the <a onclick="return OpenOther\('/html/m/michelan/1sculptu/pieta/pieta.html'\)" href="/html/m/michelan/1sculptu/pieta/pieta.html">Christ of Michelangelo's Pietà</a> in the Duomo in Florence.
