# Virgin of the Immaculate Conception with Sts Andrew and John the Baptist [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [VALDÉS LEAL, Juan de]() - Date: 1651-1700 - Technique: Oil on canvas, 234 x 167 cm ## Commentary Valdés's production of the late 1640s has largely disappeared, although the style of these years can be measured in the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception with Sts Andrew and John the Baptist, which probably was executed around 1650-52. The principal figures, with their powerfully individualized features, heavy drapery, and vigorous brushwork, are still indebted to Herrera the Elder.
