## Commentary

This scene represents the saint, Mary Magdalen, to whom the chapel is dedicated. She stands taking the hands of Cardinal Teobaldo Pontano who commissioned the decoration of the chapel. The scene is enclosed within a painted frame imitating red marble and mosaic inlays.
