# Equestrian Statuette of Ferdinando I de' Medici [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [SUSINI, Antonio]() - Date: 1601-1650 - Technique: Bronze with remains of red-gold paint, height 64 cm ## Commentary Equestrian Statuette of Ferdinando I de' Medici c. 1600 Bronze with remains of red-gold paint, height 64 cm Liechtenstein Museum, Vienna Giambologna executed the <A onclick="return OpenOther\('/html/g/giovanni/bologna/cosimo.html'\)" HREF="/html/g/giovanni/bologna/cosimo.html">monument to the Grand Duke Cosimo I de' Medici,</A> which was placed in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence in 1594. Cosimo's son Ferdinando commissioned <A onclick="return OpenOther\('/html/t/tacca/ferdina1.html'\)" HREF="/html/t/tacca/ferdina1.html">his own statue</A> from Giambologna about 1600, it was finished by Giambologna's pupil Pietro Tacca and erected in the Piazza Santissima Annunziata in 1608.
