## Commentary

The altarpiece depicts the Madonna and Child enthroned with angels and Sts John the Baptist and Nicholas of Bari. The painter of this panel was formerly known as the &#39;Pseudo-Ambrogio di Baldese&#39;. This artist was identified with Lippo d&#39;Andrea, an artist named by Vasari as &#39;Lippo fiorentino&#39;.
