## Commentary

Miracles de Notre-Dame c. 1456 Manuscript \(Ms. français 9198\) Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris This miniature on folio 19r of the codex shows Jean Miéllot, a famous writer and translator, in the middle of his work on a codex. Miéllot worked as a secretary to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy \(reigned 1419-1467\) and his successor Charles the Bold \(reigned 1467-1477\). As demonstrated by the miniature, Le Tavernier was a master of the grisaille technique.
