## Commentary

The Nativity c. 1340 Tempera and gold on panel, 30 x 21 cm Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York This charming but somewhat damaged panel \(the lower half of the landscape is abraded and largely reconstructed\) is now attributed to an anonymous painter familiar with the work of Bernardo Daddi, referred to as the Maestro Daddesco, rather than Daddi himself.
