## Commentary

Book of Hours of Catherine of Cleves 1434-40 Manuscript \(M. 917 and 945\), 192 x 130 mm The Morgan Library and Museum, New York Folio 107r from the Book of Hours of Catherine of Cleves is the opening page for the office of Compline for use on Mondays. The miniature shows an angel leading naked souls from the jaws of Hell, and in the lower border a man is trying to catch birds in a noose, using two caged birds as decoys.
