# View of the ballroom ceiling [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [DORIGNY, Louis]() - Date: 1651-1700 - Technique: Fresco ## Commentary The ceiling opens wide, exploding into an ornate projecting cornice that rests on large, bulging corbels. The large elliptical opening frames a view of the sky containing an allegorical depiction of Aurora. The entire ceiling is punctuated by displays of flowers and fruit.
