# Riderless Horse Races [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [GÉRICAULT, Théodore]() - Date: 1801-1850 - Technique: Oil on canvas, 45 x 60 cm ## Commentary Géricault painted five studies of this theme for large painting which was never realized. Two versions depicts the subject as a contemporary scene, to other three \(one of them in the Louvre\) as antique.
