# Frans Post [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [HALS, Frans]() - Date: 1601-1650 - Technique: Oil on panel, 27,5 x 23 cm ## Commentary The identification of the friendly sitter for this small informal portrait as the Haarlem landscapist Frans Post \(c. 1612-1680\) is based on an inscription written on the lower margin of an impression of the first state of Jonas Suyderhoef's reverses engraving of it at the Albertina, Vienna.
